Interesting. I have to side the guys at Luther. $60 is not a lot to spend on pickups. But it's still money. Point is - why should anyone spend his hard earned cash on a second hand product that doesn't show proof of its originality? Ok, asking for a manual or receipt on the used pickup may be too over-the-top. Fine. But if there's no gibson decal on the pickup or inside it, anyone, the buyer, me, and i'm sure you, would be hesitant to purchase it. It's different from buying a Boss pedal because even if the logo is non-existent, you can still tell that it's a Boss (dont even start on the boss clones. you know it's not funny). Pickups are different. Most pickups look generic, and it's hard to tell a brand just by looking unless one is an expert in that area. I'm not accusing anyone here. Don't get me wrong. I just don't see why we should resort to making fun of people's troubles when clearly, anyone would react the same way if it happened to them. Imagine. You meet a seller, he shows you a pickup that looks just like any normal pickup. there's no logo, no box, no nothing. You, not having the professional knowledge to identify a gibson pickup on the spot, asks the seller to show proof for your sake. the buyer gets impatient and uses nasty words on you. How would you feel? I don't believe anyone here would shell out money, any amount of money for that fact, for an unverifiable product. And i don't think anyone here would still smile when abused by a shady gear seller. C'mon. We all love GAS, that's why we're here. What's so unjustifiable about the buyer's reactions? First there was....Date posted : 13 March 2006 Selling 1 pair original Gibson humbucking pickups with nickel covers. Taken out from a 60s USA Les Paul. Some scratches on the covers but works fine. Metal braided wires long enough. Selling cheap, $60 each. SMS 93709128. Email:coolcool88@gmail.com Then there was....Date posted : 15 March 2006 Mr.93709128: please be careful your words, you say your pickup is a 60's gibson pickup, however you didn't provide any evidence to proof your one is the correct one, such as series no. of your guitar. besides this, there is no paf decal and gibson logo on it. how can i spend so much money on this kind of goods Email:na

nothing is too serious in here ;D
If anyone is sweet enough to actually believe the its a authentic 60s PU, he/she deserved to be cheated of the $60!
If its a real 60s PU, happy happy joy joy, bestest $60 ever spent.
are you the buyer ;D

Funny, I don't remember making fun of the original poster, only the 2nd one with a lack of imagination. My comment in italics was one expressing my ignorance on the pricing of PUs, FYI.
Of course no one wants to be cheated. The person who posted it obviously hasn't BOUGHT it yet, simply enquired about it, found it dodgy and proceeded to make a public service announcement.
All of us buyers and sellers here doode. I know the pain of a bad deal. No one's saying the first poster is wrong.

I'm not the buyer. But i have bought and sold the occasional gear on Luther. And the thing that irks me is some Luther buyers/sellers can be real pain in the asses.
Case closed. I'm just pointing out my opinion. I enjoy this forum as much as the gear so really, this discussion will amount to nothing much.

I know you're joking here, but really, do you believe in what you said? There are a lot of musicians out there who are ignorant abt their gear. i always felt it was better to educate them rather them let them "suffer" and learn from their mistakes. it's not worth it la. i dont believe in that kind of theory. nothing is too serious in here ;D If anyone is sweet enough to actually believe the its a authentic 60s PU, he/she deserved to be cheated of the $60!
