I am thinking of upgrading my compressor. Let's take a look at my set up first Ok. I need to replace the BOSS CS-3 with something better. It has to be on all the time (i.e. I use it for both clean tone and distorted tone) I thought the DynaComp would do wonders. It worked for the clean tone, but gave off a hiss and sucked a lot of tone from the TRI-AC when the gain channels are on. I have two options now: 1. Robert Keeley Compressor 2. RMC FK-1 Any other good recommendations? Some other reliable sources also recommeneded the Marshall Edward the Compressor. Any one knows where i can try this one out?

do check out the Ibanez Tube compressor... Damn warm sounding.. Uses a 12AX7 tube inside.... Two foot switches.. One to on/off pedal.. the other gives you a clean boost, especially useful for soloing... The last time i saw sweel lee still carrying it...

The Saffron Squeezer is the illusive Way Huge pedals which cost a bomb now.
Basically, dan armstrong's Orange Squeezer was his old design... u get diff. type of compression compare to the DynaComp or Ross Comp. He updated his design recently and called it the Orange Juicer, I think.
The BiComprossor from Analog Man is a Orange Squeezer and a Ross Compressor mixed to gether.. you can select one or the other... bang for buck lah, macam 2 compressors for the price of one boutique one.
Then of course you have the Robert Keeley one which is a Dynacomp clone plus special goo.. haha... I dunno much about Robert one. But I go to AM's forums.. so i read lots of shit there about it.
cheers, airhole

I saw a Ed the Compressor at Davis. Tempted to buy. But dunno if Ed will fit in with my existing pedals. Better to try it with all my pedals. Wonder what uncle davis will think if i lug down my board just to try his compressor

actually, to this date, I've no idea what a compressor can do for your tone. All I hear is ...'fwah... must get!!!' convince me please gentlemen... hyakhyak ;D Compressor rounds up your tone. Most notably when you are playing clean. Like for example, when you're playing an arpeggiated part, you may hit some notes harder/softer than the rest...The compressor evens out the volume for you.... A nice compressor can also "clean up" your playing when you're playing dirty (no puns intended). Example when you're doing those chugging riffs ala Metallica, the compressor can make you sound tight...Too much compression, though, will suck the "feel" out of your playing... Personal preference. Some people shy away from compressors (Adam Jones come to mind)...For me, i need it for the clean parts, so that they sound shimmery...At the same time, i dun dial in too much compression, as that will kill my distorted tone....

Yup dats wat a compressor does. But i hate it when they change the tone of your guitar at times. Thats why i dun like to spend too much on one. Anyway i have a DOD FX80-B for sale. Its the predecessor of the Milkbox. But i felt that its slightly better than the latter leh, but its definitely better than the Boss CS3. Its pretty transparent and doesn't colour too much of your tone. I've been using it as a booster and it works well for me. Gave my tone a good edge and sustain, but ever since i got my Tonebone, it isnt needed anymore. Haha sorry for doing a little advertising here mrmisse!! hehe... ;D
