Been scouring through forums like guitargeek and HC...and it seems down to two pedals which are high recommended for starters....DE7 and the PB&J. Wanna know if i should go for these and how much it would cost here... btw...i'm currently using the delay off my yamaha dg60fx amp...and i'm having a hoot playing around with delay. but need something i can bring to studios and gigs. so many pedals....so little money......

is delay gonna be an integral part of your setup or are you gonna be using it sparingly? if you ar gonna be using plenty delay...i recommend splurging a bit more and get a line 6 modeller..cos then you will more delay than you can ever use and ask for...
if you are looking for a short analog reverb kiid of stuff, then try and get a dm-2. you prob wun regret it... the danelectro dan echo is also really good....
just my 2 cents worth....

my choice wud be DE-7. Goot for the price and the tone and the oscillation
hehe, i is such poseur, dont even have a de-7, but heck lah. The de-7 is pretty goot, from trying out on misse boss board that is ;D

at first i wanted to get an echo park....but then again think the dl4 and echopark quite out of the way lar....i would like to use delay alot...but then...must play awhile first mar. I'm enjoying delay whilst playing at home on my amp, esp with the tap tempo...but i think come to studio or gig would be another thing....already busy enough with playing guit and singing weird harmonies and tapping dist/od/compressor. haha...dunno how you guys survive with a full pedalboard.
de7 really sounds good....get from sweelee is it? or does mrmisse have one? what would the price be like? Think i'll use it along with reverb...like a EH holy grail which i am getting....yummy ;D

yeah, sweelee shud have the de-7, if not can check around luther classified for it. Lately seen some for sale at a goot price.
As for the brand new price, not too sure bout it. Maybe can check with SL
Imho, the de-7 shud be a goot starting one to get into delay, from it you might know what is the part thats lacking and which part you like bout it to have a better idea of the delay you wanna in future.
The echopark and dl-4 are often more then delay to play with and usually most wud just assign 3 of the most usage one and leave it there.
But...but ..but, if you are into less is more, BUT MORE IS STILL MORE!!! Yeah, the echo park or DL4 is goot ;D
oh, digitech's digidelay seem interesting too

Try to score from the Luther Classifieds. I reckon a 2nd hand model might be less than S$100. I dun mind getting one but if I were to splurge on delay pedals, I'll get the Digidelay and the Digiverb first... The DE-7 is clean and non-metallic sounding, unlike the Boss digital delays... I'm not a fan of Boss DDs. Sorry...

my first and present delay is the digidelay. its more of a delay for starters. digidelay's got tape delay (analog sim), and lush modulation delay (can act as a chorus).. for a preview of more advance use of a delay, its got tap tempo and 4 secs of looping and trippy reverse delay; but until now i still struggle to use them (maybe because im a bozzo). for convenient use of such intricate modes, the dl4 and echopark wld do well. u might wanna get the digidelay but now.. swee lee has raised the price. hehe.. i got mine for $140 there, before the publicity kicked in. and erm.. ive got the PB&J too.. idiot proof and cheep. but its repeats dun go to infinity.. and its more of an echo because the feedback is softer than the original note even at the max level. the short delay mode can acts as a reverb but u cant use both long and short delay simultaneously. this pedal is small and difficult to engage wen in a pedal board. not recommended for gigs. hehe.. so i will try to replace it somehow. so yeah, look thru Luther Classifieds if ypu're on a budget. If u see DE-7 going second hand fo <$100, take some time to tink.. take all the time to tink.. cos.. i will be racing you to it. hahah!!! i want DE-7... grrrrrrrr.....

The DE7 is a GREAT delay. Cheap and goot.
One major thing to note though is that on analogue sound mode, the original signal eg. your first note is already "analogued" meaning loss of treble.
Normal digital mode First picked note = Plink The delayed = Plink plink plink
Analogue mode First picked note = (Supposed to be plink) but comes out as Plonk The delayed = Plonk plonk plonk
hope you get what I mean.
Nevertheless if you can live with that... EXCELLENT DELAY FOR THE MONEY.
oh and the Ibanez TONELOK series of pedals uses the same bypass switch as the Plastic 5 series.... meaning.... IT SUCKS AND ITS GET ERRATIC AFTER 1 YEAR OR SO... if you're unlucky that is. requires constant cleaning

the "analogued" first note, it might be a advantage for some, some might not noticed if didnt read this. I didnt actually, haha Only remember the slight darker and thick delay sound. I was lost in the dreamy state for a while ;D And hey Mr seng!! I think this is a first in this forum that you have describe tone in words and not in a joking manner

my opinion would be to look at your budget.. if you see any delay on luther for sale that's within your budget.. quickly ask around and check the net to see if it's a good price, if it is.. whack liao, mai tu liao.. coz it probably won't be too difficult to sell later on.. if i dun like a BOSS DD, doesnt mean you won't like.. i know alot of boards have them, so it's really a personal thing.. u might like something which i really hate as well.. just go try them out.. the search will never end though.. hehehehe ;D

And hey Mr seng!! I think this is a first in this forum that you have describe tone in words and not in a joking manner Hey.... I'm the MODDIST and I just modded my style of describing sounds over the weekend. I tweaked a little bit on the humour circuit to have less gain and I've added a 3 way toggle switch to switch between Humour I/Humour II/Unleash the Fooking Fury. I'm actually typing this on the secret inbetween mode of Humour II/Unleash the Fooking Fury and I think I'm DA FOOKIN MODDIST MAN! ;D
