last year when justin from The Suns came back...we talked about building our own amps also...download the schematics and buy the parts. but wood for interesting sound we wanted to use cheap wood like dark red meranti or jelutong. coconut tree timber should be interesting...every few weeks will peel off...got different sound every few months

it should be changeable, but the biasing most likely has to change also, unless its those self biasing amp.
Just my guess, best to consult amp tech.
Heh, becareful of changing the tubes thou, even if interchangeable. I blown component in my univalve when just got it after cranking it with a kt88 instead of the usual el34. Bang ballz big time ;D

eh shouldn't it be able to use the kt88? hah i read on hc that when some dude used the 6N1P with his hi-octane it sounded like a marshall stack.. (not that i really believe it but each tube is like $7.50USD each so even if it sucks, won't suck so hard la.) but since the output is lowered, cranked should be more sweet (i hope la). thinking of using it with a small amp, Laney LC15R, that has like 4 year old worn tubes. where and how to bias ah? and is changing tube that hard?

heh, although the kt88 is interchangeable on the THD, when i blown it, was suspecting to the HI v setting. But in the end, it was brought back to life locally. If not, i can kill myself with the kt88 over and over again ;D bout the biasing, only to the power tube. Preamp tube need not. for a start, info can be found here www.geofex.com/tubeampfaq/taffram.htmwww.guitaramplifierblueprinting.com/Tubeprimerandselection.pdfwww.webervst.com/bias.htmlBiasing is necessary to get the best out of the utilization of the power tubes. Heh, but i did change the el84 tubes in my carvin amp without re biasing. This could be damaging in long run, but i just have to take responsionsibility for my stupidity... As for changing, its just plug in and out. Local amp tech, not too sure...
