1) where does soft want to go from here? to me it's about equipment and idle chatter most of the time nowadays. where's the music?
2) too many childish forummers. not your fault james.
3) how do you want to move the forummers into the direction you're going? obviously there's people who use the forum just like they would on a chat room. is that the best thing to do - archive cheap talk?
4) anything can be said under the sun without verification. i was guilty of that last time.
5) people want to use the forum so they don't have to get out of their houses. to the extent that they don't even bother to try out equipment they want to buy. ("i shy to try out..." "what's the best [insert equipment here]?" "it's too far...")
Come on. You gotta have a bit more courage and be willing to travel the distance to be a good musician.
I believe that things do have to change if you would want a better soft.com.sg. there are a few suggestions I've left on soft forums, check them out and see if you agree/want to implement them.
Cheers.

hi thor66
thank you for your effort in organising the stickies and FAQs. I need more users who are of your commitment level.
I see a hole in the music 'scene' and I took it as my life goal to help mend. Dont be mistaken, I am not moving earth or shaking mountains here. Just a small small thing that I can afford to do. There are many more people out there with the authority and power to do much more with just 1 word or nod. But to do bigger things, we need critical mass. That is where I hope SOFT can come in handy. By providing a common space for everyone to meet and share. SOFT is not affiliated with any commercial entity or government authority. SOFT is flexible and able to adapt to the trend quickly.
I know what I want SOFT to be but to get there, it will take time and loads of help from everyone.

Hi James, I feel that as of right now, SOFT is in a transition phase. More and more people are getting interested and exposed to music. Thus, the increase of members of course. However, these so called "noobs" of course are lacking in knowledge and do not really know how things work around the boards. Of course, people start to get irritated, but everyone has been a newbie before some point in our life. Instead of being hostile, the more "senior" members should take the initiative to let them know exactly how things go before "flaming" or such. And of course the cut down of non-music topics, not everyone agrees with it, but I think it is a step in the right direction.
Haha, I don't really know what I'm saying, I too used to be one of those who posted thrash all the time and needed a wake up call. Tell if you need any help, I'd be more than happy to help.

Honestly, I dun really care (so typical of a Singaporean)... All I know is that these kids will grow up and grow outta rock music. Hey, so many of my frens stopped going to gigs, etc. Did you ever pause to wonder why all the ska and rude boys and girls so young (albeit fancifully dressed)? They are underaged to go clubbing. Ska and reggae have always been dance music for da poor, for those who can't afford it.
When they are older, they graduate to Zouk, MOS, God forbid, Club Momo where there's great booze and scantily clad partying chicks... Facts of life, babe...
Get help from the government? Do it to gain mass critical mass? Fuck it all man! If it happens, it happens... If not, will you still be willing to play your music even if there was no outlet to perform in?
