Which one is better? Aren't they both modeled after the Ross compressor? I am looking for something that can make my tone a little rounder as well as add some sustain...Read that whole article about compressor and now it seems, i'm even more blur  |

seem hard to compare which one better. Since oth are modeled after the ross comp and shud be of certain standard.
As for the rounder tone, not sure if what i had in mind the same as yours. I tend to turn up the mids on the amp and the treble down with bass to taste, to get that slight "round", fat and smooth clean sound. Tone knob on the guitar to about 3/4 full and the volume knob around 85%-95%. Sometime the amp speakers shoud help also.
Back when i was playing thru a 15w practise amp, i often find the sound rather flat/boxy and little sustain. When i chance to a 2x12 combo amp, even with the same guitar, the clean tone was a total change, it sound much much more fatter and the sustain is all over the place.

that's about right, although i leave the volume and tone knobs untouched at maximum. but 44's amp setting is the same as mine except when i switch guitars (jazzmaster or artcore), then i'll have to either turn the mids down or up depending on the guitar. if you want to get it any fatter, you'll have to do a paul gilbert and use a bass amp instead. over the top if you ask me.
i guess it's subjective to taste. i like my overdrive to be very little and muddled sounding. i don't wish to soak the wonderful jazzmaster sound in OD and lose the sheen of the jazzmaster tone.
Y, maybe you can try the dark boost from effector 13. this one our regular boss, mrmisse, has one.

small small.. mxr sized... it's a boost that cuts the high ends n add the low ends in.. it was made to change single coils to sound like humbuckers.. n erhm.. humbuckers to... uhm.. super humbuckers.. heheh.. the latter i bullshit one lah.. but yeh.. it's a 1 knob pedal.. come n try to see if it fits into ur setup..
