Hi guys, I'm deciding between a route66 and a jekyll and hyde. The only reason I want the route66 is cuz of the compressor which will definitely help smooth out my tele. But on the other hand, the j&h is so much more versatile. What do you think? Which should I get?
Mr Misse, do you bring in any good compressors?

well it depends mah.. if u r not into distortion that much, u can save some money n go for the bluesy route66.. or like airhole said, the FK-1 is a pretty transparent comp.. come n try first lah, never try wouldnt know what u r looking for..

wah, the "come and try" sounds like a death trap! hahahahahahahaha followed by "you never know what you are looking for..." wah... ;D ;D mrmissevil.... but TRUE, go and try it.. if i had moolahs and am someone who appreciates the compressor, RMC is the cheapest quality comp around.. GO FOR IT>

heh I also appreciate compressors, but also wanna keep gassing spenditure to a minimum ( if there's such a thing) hahahaha. I tried the route66 at guitar77 - kinda on the noisy side I feel, which would be worse for me since I use single coils.
Anyhoo, when can I go over to do a test mr m?

well, at lot of things depends on the set up also lah.. for example power supply could give u noise... the amp itself could inherently be noisy.. but anyhow.. Compressors are white noise boosters anyway... so u have been warn

whats good bout a setup thats too quiet. Need the noise in the background for the lo fi and analog feel ;D
Amplified the white noise and modulate it!!!

anyway.. yes i do agree the comp on the R66 is alittle noisy, but if u like that pedal, the noise can be fix, probably have to change the components inside..
anyway, i just had a comp shootout w 2 old folks.. the 3 candidates were RMC FK-1, Route66 and the infamous Keeley comp..
the equal settings, the rmc sounded softer than the rest but the level knob had more differences than the keeley which after like 1 o clock, the level remained almost the same.. we tried the keeley before n after the rmc n they sounded almost alike with the keeley slightly fatter n the rmc alittle more trebley.. that's the main differences between the 2.. R66 had more noise compared to the other 2 n without a doubt not as tight sounding as the other 2 but still rather nice balanced tones coming out..

heh cool...I really like the route66, but I find that I'm able to coax less noisy overdrive on the j&h as well. Anyway, change what components in the route66? Where do I get such components?

I have the route 66. N yeah the compressor a little noisy whn i play thru my PRS n Rivera (coil tapped tho). But to me its still a great deal. The overdrive is superb, n the compressor shines. Sure u can get a better separate OD and compressor if got cash hehehe. I didnt really like the J&H coz well the Dist has too much gain for my taste. The only prob is that if i use the compressor and a wah at the same time, the noise can is a bit unsettling. Perhaps need to get a noise gater. But if i use the OD side with wah the noise is still minimal???. Oh well still a GREAT pedal inmy book.
