Any idea why my moon phaser and supatrem pops when i stomp on the footswitch? Even before the gig starts, after stomping a few times to discharge the capacitve charges or whatever... IT stills pops during the gig... Damn frustrating siah... Is it because of the one spot adaptor that i'm using giving higher than normal voltage output?? ... Or the supply daisy chain too long so got voltage drop??... i'm joined two in series cos too many pedals... Or is it becos of other pedals in the effects chain affecting these two pedals... This problem bothering me ...Can't sleep properly man....

cos there is a change of DC levels when bypass and non-bypassed...
hence the pop... u could insert a 2M ohm resistor... to prevent it. ;D

Hehe, then implement the pop into the song and make it part of it..

Ha,ha... You guys really crack me up with your crap man... ;D At least the first 3 replies were helpful... ha,ha... I found the following article on the tonebone website... Very interesting... Guess it answers the question why the supatrem, infinity and moon phaser pops when i switch it in and out despite being so called "true-bypass" with the 3PDT switch... " The term true-bypass comes from problems associated with some pedals that even when off, have the effect of loading down the pickup. This means that instead of 100% of the signal bypassing the effect pedal, some of it is absorbed into the pedal even when it is not being used. The perfect ‘true-bypass’ switch would be one that completely disconnects the pedals PC board and circuit from the signal path. Unfortunately, this type of mechanical switching causes pops in the audio path when switched in and out. "

Perharps that why boss pedals which are not tru-bypass don't pop at all as it uses a transistor switch to switch in and out.. Damn why can't we have the best of both worlds.. Pedals that don't have loading effect weakening your signal and true-bypass pedals that don't pop..

makandojoe,
u can have best of both ways... to my ears, there is not signal loss, if you add a huge resistor at the switching area. No loss, in fact, it might add fidelity....
but then again, whats wrong no-true bypass if you put a good buffer? all the hype about true bypass COULD be due to DIY/boutique makers who can't be bothered to build a buffer for their pedals.
Boss, BTW, does not use " a transistor switch to switch in and out.. ".. its actually just a momentary switch that triggers a flip-flop circuitry.
so there.. the secrets are revealed! MWAHAHAHAHAH ;D

but if u add a resistor or do some grounding, it might change the sound? slightly?.. maybe not much at all but technically.. should there be any change at all?..
sorry i donno much about this jus hamtam only.. ;D

Effort? What you mean effort? This is how i normally do it? hahahahaha u win liao loh ;D btw, i have a rat claimed is TB but it does not pop. Those marshall pedals not TB but pop like crazy. Last time got a Vox wah modded to TB is the poppiest...what kind of a word is poppiest anyway
