Was going thru my Nine Inch Nails albums yesterday. After listening to the Fragile, I just realised this after 5 years. NIN is quite post-rock-ambient-whatever.
We all know that KS and J. Mascis are beer buddies but according to BigO (If I rem correctly), Kevin Shield's only contemporary in terms of laying down soundscapes and textures is actually Trent Reznor.
And I've gone thru 'The Fragile' again. Some ambient pieces reminds of what Aspidistra Fly does... Interesting.

Trent ambient-ish moment had that violent feel to me. Heh, now you that you remind me, gotta go dig out the fragile and have a listen to it again

Heh, now you that you remind me, gotta go dig out the fragile and have a listen to it again in addition, both are procrastinating wankers who take shitloads of time to do just one album... now both of them just survive and get by with doing remixes or selling remixes of their tunes...

oh, one more thing which i find in trent's soundscape and music, towards violent and self destruction.
For kevin shield, heh, i just wanna get trippy, dreamy and stone out to the sound going on. The lyrics dont really matter so much to me...

yeah... one is more hi-fi and the other is more lo-fi.
Who the hell can actually hear what both of them are singing abt. One always coats his voice with so much reverb and buries it so soft in the mix and the other is just screaming his balls off....
heheh.. but i like it... ;D

i like both of them (but since i'm more of a MBV fan than NIN, i'd say i like KS more) and what i think the two of them have done so far,are really good. 'city girl' from Lost In Translation soundtrack is a good return to form for KS, don't you think? he's still at it, the shoegazer thing. he set the standard for the 'musical journey' of rock where the music takes over the lyrics and you can see today the many bands that have carried on the same style. mogwai, sigurros, explosions in the sky, M83 etc. he is the Brian Eno, van de graff generator and musical Andy Warhol of our generation. ;D KEVIN SHIELDS! you is my hero!!check out the t-shirt..hehehe true fan la...can't help it

heh, which zoom pedal trent make ya buy ;D not exactly pedals but he was endorsed by ZOOM for those 9000 series belt pack pedals. In some interview also he revealed that he used that for some songs or something like that. I bought a 2020, 3030, 50x series reverb(VERY GOOD ONE!) and amp modeler, GM200 amp modeller (DECENT!), 2 of those big black pedal, Choir and Drive i think... and now with that Zoom HD recorder. I'm a reluctant Zoom fan. I hearts Zoom.
