1. Gentlyfall (Singapore now in Oz) 2. Most of the chinese indie bands in KL. Mengshat cops the seamless slowdive sound with a boss multieffect. Take that and party you pedal wankers. 3. KLPHQ, the band that Piut the Gayboi's in. (Msia)
Essentials to me that are.... 1. MBV 2. Slowdive 3. Lush (Earlier ones, Ladykillers sucked) 4. Ride (Shoegazing stuff get it before the Carnival of Light albums) 5. Lovesliescrushing 6. Windy and Carl 7. Astrobrite (Featuring Scott Cortez from Lovesliescrushing. Do a search on Wavertone records and you can get the mp3s there.) 8. Bethany Curve (Was my all time favourite band. Sky across skies or something like that blown me away) 9. Medicine (The genius of Brad Laner, I like them all but Her Highness is the most polished one) 10. The third eye foundation (Started as electronic noise Dnb'ish stuff and now more chillout, horror movie, eerie soundtracks with foreign vocals hur hur... I love Matt Elliots stuff) 11. Flying Saucer Attack. (Everything he released is essential. Prolly after hearing em, you'd find the stuff that I've done is just mimicing his genius) 12. Labradford 13. GSYBE 14. Jessica Bailiff 15. Go thro the Kranky records list 16. There are tons more but i need to take a dump.

heh, went thru my mp 3 list again and thot i can mentioned some bands that have some similarity to the topic and which i find interesting 1)Isotope 217 (pedalcore, maybe) 2)trans am(techno post rock, anyone?) 3)orthrelm(improvised grind jamming, confirm to piss the hell outta most listener) 4)pelican- sludgy stoner post rock 5)surface of eceon-lengthy space jam 6)turing machine-not yet math metal, slighty heavier for math rock 7)murder by death- songs bout murder and crime 8)paul newman- the band, not a person. 9)subArachnoid space-space jam too, perhaps think most of it in there might not be post rock or shoegazing, but still, instrumental based. Hehe, hope i didnt sound too dumb

sad to say that i don't know much abt regional bands that do such.
telebury? saw them at baybeats, kinda like their radiohead 'the bends" kinda sound.
Big red moment stopped for a while. last i checked with the dudes from beat merchants, they seemed to have stopped for a while.
i think a couple of bands that's not often mentioned would be
- Emery Reel. (great use of lap steel and theremin)
- Ester drang. (makes me wanna go learn piano)
- namelessnumberheadman. (coolest trio to ever try indie with electronica)
- nitrada. (think a DJ remixing indie songs)

Thanks...
I like the idea of the KLPHQ... as for the Chinese indie bands... are they like Chinese or they play Chinese songs?
AYP is thinking of doing a post-rock festival next year.
We are gathering names here...

These are the names that we are proposing to put up for the post-rock event, a combination of Malaysian and Singaporean bands. I'd really love to get Thai, Filipino and Indonesian bands. But I dunno much abt them siah...
1) Aspidistra Fly 2) big.redmoment 3) Documentary In Amber or Astreal 4) Hearing Hill or I Am David Sparkle 5) furniture 6) Fitzcarraldo or KLPHQ 7) S.I.O.T.I.C.A.
What do you guys think of this line-up if the gig were to kick off? What else do you think could be a good idea to do for such an event? I understand that if we could get some videojammers. It'd be great. Anyway, any ideas? MagnumF boss, where are u?!?!
