Yes very very strange indeed. There was this bu eh who wants to auction her clasical guit. So i email her to nego the price. She gave a fair reduction so i email her back to ask for the time n place to check out the instrument at her convenience not mine. Back came the reply "Er sori i don't like to do meet ups, very inconvenient and also i am doin shift work, pls get back to me if u are still interested". I was like wat the f%*K. Must have met an AHlien(alien) no pun intended. if dun meet up then how?.. she send by post ah?.. or she do ah beng ah lian blackmail style.. ask you to deposit money in a dust-bin beside a traffic light in a busy road junction and not to call the police n only come alone.. n then she'll send you the guitar but normally you dun get that far..

Interesting topic =)
When I was going through a lot of used gear i made it a point to keep it detached - buying and selling sometimes i meet some cool nice people, sometimes some people are not so nice. I bought a delay pedal and when i got home it was working weird, and when i told the guy he was like "what?!?! i tested it before selling, i come to your house now and try, if it works il make you buy it", and i was thinking "like wtf..." so fair enough maybe you honestly didnt know it was faulty, but some people just dont have much buyer / seller etiquette. In the end he took it back, but even when he said he fixed it i refused to buy it from him again.
Also when im selling i dont see any obligation to let potential buyers mess with your gear. Maybe if he's nice and he wants to talk about gear fine, but otherwise there's no need for me to let them try anything else i am not selling.

main thing about buying and selling...
WE'RE NOT OUT HERE TO MAKE FRIENDS.
You give me the money and I'll give you the gear and likewise the same.
If you say not negotiable I won't negotiate and likewise the same.
oh and making friends is secondary. If we can FEEL for each other then we're friends.

i'm quite different.. i make it a point to always meet people in secluded areas like 12 midnight or something.. that way, you can really feel for each other throughout the night..
seriously, it really depends, sometimes i end up talking to customers for an hour.. sometimes i even end up trying to play some music with em or even planning to form a kickass band n takeover the world..
but i had an experience with a dude bragging to me about what brands he knew n some of those obscure pedals on luther classifieds were brought in by him from the states.. heheh i didnt know alot then but looking back, it's pretty funny..

heh, as the thread evolve, just sorta brings back a certain memory of me buying a guitar at a goot price, was visiting the seller, a nice friendly guy that really make me feel comfy.
my idea was to go to location, pay $, run back home, have some lurving moment with it.
BUt the seller was so friendly, kept asking me to stay around, talk bout instrument, music and such. Ended up listening to music. Although not that i want to, i find it hard to turn him down cos the guitar and the goot price. In the end spend whole afternoon at seller place listening to oldies, bossa and some other stuff iam too naive to listen too...
but still, seller is a nice guy!

If it has to do with the gear buying/selling, maybe just a lil bit will do. But some buyer just contact the seller/buyer cos they wanna brag.... funny people ;D

I like the way the buyer/seller thread became one about an alien... hee hee - crassical geetar summore ... very so-fisty-cates-turd
anyway - after the threat of being forever labelled a loser waste time buyer - i am hapy to report that no such thing has happened. Guess it was just a spur of the moment - pre-anger management moment. Alls well i suppose - so no more hate brudders ..... must lurve
I think after a while, you learn to ignore the $50 offers for fulltones or stuff like that.... you laugh it off, and tell your friends about it...
Then you go out and offer $30 sometimes to get even .... release!!! haha
Cleaning out some pedals which i thought worked for me... Keeley SEM, Toadworks Mr Ed, Nightshade copy by ed... i've also gone on a clean boost and envelope filter buying spree ... after i check out, will let u guys know wat they are like
BTW heard Ed is heading back to Malaysia...

once, when i sold my beesontinfoil Boss ODB-3 someone wanted to get it, then asked me to meet him at City Hall MRT at around noon on a saturday. so i got up early and waited for him there. at about 1330hrs after realising he wasn't gonna come i left. then as i had other offers for it, i went to tell another guy that he could have it. this guy was no problem offered to meet me at the same day itself. then around 1600 the original fella messaged me "so what time you want to meet". he denied knowing of the prior engagement. so then since i "sold" it to him first, i would meet up with him. had to bear with the guilt of telling the other guy the pedal was already sold. ended up meeting the guy at Dhoby Ghaut mrt around 1900 then he still bargained somemore....the funny part was he refused to come out of the gantry. had to deal with that gate blocking us. quite frustrating esp since he bargained somemore. for $5. i just said ok. the best buyer ever was when someone actually came to my house (!) to pick up a pedal. nice guy thank you

woah, sdre, you touched me deep deep I promised man, the tele custom is in good hand and i always wipe down after each usage.. heh, my laziness has make me not interchange with the maple neck from the other tele. Who knows, i might just spoilt a wonderful guitar. and yes, smoking in a residential area is a big No, unless the owner invites me and he a smoker too ;D

Assala-mulaikum brudder Ah Seng. Sad to hear that you had gone. Bila mari ke Singapura, kontak kita ya!
So the local community loses another son of the soil ... sigh. Keep in touch.
My best buyer was Jim - no complaints, just a regular nice guy. Understanding too
