hi, i was wondering if the j/h that you carry is the red or white one? how would you describe the gain when both jeckyll and hyde kicked in? i am actually looking for that high gain chugging rifferama sound with warm sustain for the lead part. thank you

Tried the red J&H... The TS808 clone sounds pretty good i must say... Able to conjure up a fat & smooth lead tone.... The distortion side is a little weak... You might wanna try a tonebone.... It really rocks!!

Thanks for the reply dude. I did consider the tonebone but a bit expensive for that price. Anyway is the hyde channel really that bad???

hi there..
i would the hyde channel of coz cannot be compared to a tube distortion but i think it does the job well.. infact some metal players have bought it n compare it with the tonebone.. the tonebone is warmer n more sensitive on the harmonics but the j&h comes not too far off.. for the price, it's an amazing pedal.. u have to try it for urself, really..

Yeah man I think you really got to try it for yourself, and REALLY mess around with settings on the Hyde side, cos you can vary the tones greatly, all the way from a thin no mids metal tone to a full dual rectifier kinda sound. Somehow the Hyde always seems to sound better to me when the amp (regardless of whether its solid state or not) is louder, it seems to sound bigger and more natural.
The Tonebone is an amazing sounding pedal, very warm sounding, with so much distortion I think 12 o'clock will be as far as I go with the gain knob!! I didn't get to fully test it though, so I guess I have to try it again....
Yet another excuse to go to Clementi ah members!!! ;D

too late dei!!..
sold of the tonebones already.. heheh.. it's ok.. u can cook up more excuses like the redwitch or AC boosters n the moogerfoogers..
shit!! i have to be honest n say this.. the moogs r the most amazing pedals i have played so far.. imagine that u can get tremolos from the ring mod n volume swells n pounding techno bass sounds from the low pass filter.. not to mention the amazing MuRF!!.. there is just so much range to each pedal.. n there's input gain in it and most of all.. there r like 4 expression output jacks to each pedal so u can virtually express any settings.. well that is if u can control all 4 lah.. but the options available is just so open to ur imagination.. true.. they r not cheap but once u hold the pedal n check out the parts.. u know it's very very well built.. worth every penny man!!..
oops sorry diverted to much from the thread.. i forgot to mention that the J&H that i have are all new stock.. the blood red ones.. with the addition of a new Bass boost switch among other little adjustments..

The jekyll side is damn good!!....even better than TS808 out there in the market....as for the hyde side.....its alittle disappointing....U'll need to spend a long time to tweak the knobs to get a good distortion which most distortion pedals can get already. I own a Sansamp GT2 and i felt that my GT2 could get better distortions than the hyde, although its an amp modeller and is noisier. Its quite difficult to get a good sound when you on both sides together. I'm still not giving up in trying to though...hehe... ;D Overall its still a fantastic pedal for the price!! For this kinda price you won't get a Maxon TS808 let alone 2 pedals in one!! But got money then get the Tone Bone loh....too bad that i wanna be unique coz 2 of my frens already have both the classic and hotbritish.
