has anyone had an experience with this pedal? how does it compare to the gt2 and other similar emulation pedals?

its excellent. you dun get quite as many sounds as the GT2, but imagine classic miking only and ability to adjust the mid-freq range, and programmable channels...
its like a 3 channel amp controller in a stompbox...

i had a tri ac ... and currently use a gt2..
the gt2 definitely has more gain than the tri ac ... so if you like those chugga chugga mesa high gain sounds (i do !) ,the gt2 is for you.
also the gt2 has 3 different mic voicings and gain types which you can get a plethora of sounds (tho i mostly use the mesa...)
however, airhole is right about the mids (tho you can do it manually by lowering high and low and up'ing the level)
and the tri ac is 3 channel programmable, which is superb.
now if only they had the gt2 in 3 channel programmable......

hey DEAD, i actually had in mind to buy 3 GT2... then I din need to get any more distortion pedals.. cos they basically covered most grounds... I figured TRI AC can't be that bad, in fact its quite versatile also... but less options per channel.

i think i'd get a second gt2 when i'm on the cover of guitar player .. ;D or if someone wants to give his away or is selling one for less than 120 bucks ... then i might need a 2 loop bypass pedal ..... then i'll need a bigger board ... so i think i'll make do with 1 .... ....till i'm on the cover of guitar player but yah ... i ended up downgrading (so called..) because of the high gain chugga-chugga sound

Aint the tri ac the programmable version of the gt-2?
Heh, imo they sounded differently. I had the tri ac few fews back, but sold it away and kept the GT-2 around. Oh well, sort of regreted it as i thot the tri ac actually sounds better than the gt-2. Especially after hearing what Y can do with it in lunarin's music.

i find both pieces sound somewhat different , but given that , they can both sound the same at some settings ..
i prefered the marshall channel on the tri ac (nice cutting tone)
and i prefer the mesa channel on the gt2 (more gain)
the fender channel i've not much to say about, essentially they sound the same, to my ears at least
but of course, i've never compared both of them side by side, but i can say that the gt2 definitely has more gain than the tri ac (if thats your thing)

heh, i did like the gt-2 for heavy distortion for a long while. But as the time passes by, find myself getting away more and more from the heavy as hell tone. Nowadays, even a overdrive pedal can sound heavy to me. Think i must be going mad
Other other hand, fuzz pedal is a great "distortion" that i didnt get sick off.

yeah i know what you mean ...
its not the tone that makes a song heavy, its the intensity and dynamics ..
